Parents Orientation is a
separate yet concurrent program designed specifically for
parents, guardians, and spouses of new students. This
program consists of special presentations designed to help
family members assist with their student’s transition to
college by becoming familiar with the University and its
many resources.
This program includes opportunities to meet with faculty,
administrators, and students to discuss such issues as
academic performance, student health care, campus safety,
money management, available support services, roommate
problems, homesickness, student supervision, expected
student behavior, and commuter student concerns. We
encourage questions on these and other topics.
Parents wishing to attend Orientation should pre-register
and pay for Orientation at the same time as their student
using the
Orientation Date Request form (either online or by
mail). There is a $30 fee per parent; this fee includes
lunch, the services of the student orientation leaders, and
all program materials. Because of the nature of the program,
it is not appropriate for anyone except
parents/guardians/spouses to attend Parent Orientation.
Friends or siblings are not allowed to accompany students.
Any parent/guardian who comes to Orientation and has not
pre-registered may be turned away due to limited
space; if space is available, an increased fee of $40 will
be charged.
Please note that Parents Orientation is only offered during
Summer Orientation.
